2 Carnivals in Paris
Le Carnaval de Paris
French people often demonstrate to express their angriness against the government’s policy. Many will go on the street in February, dressed up, playing music. But it’s not a demo: it’s a carnival! The Carvaval de Paris is a musical cortege through popular districts of Paris. The leaders of this unusual demo does not belong to any worker’s union, they are “Pimprenelle the Cow” and “Pat the Clown”.

This event exists since the 19th century but has been forbidden for many years. It is now living again.
It starts at 1.30pm in the rue Le Vau (M° Porte de Bagnolet)…
… and ends at 7 pm at the Hôtel de Ville, avenue Victoria (M° Hôtel de Ville)
Le Carnaval de Paris from 1.30 pm to 7 pm

A royal Orchestra, professional dancers and musicians will celebrate the arrival of spring at the Cabaret Sauvage. For Centuries, all across Europe, people have been celebrating the arrival of spring. In the north, people dress up, wear make up and invent the lyrics of songs. In the south, people dance, march and burn giant puppets. From 3pm to 7 pm, North and South will meet at Cabaret Sauvage. Dominique Rebaud and his dancers will teach you some dances while Claude Sicre improvise songs with the audience. At 6.30, the giant carnival puppet will be burnt next to the canal and further dances and game will go on in the evening.
